In a hot summer day, Nica was thinking that it would be great to pay a visit to his uncle Vasile and to propose him to let Ion, his cousin, to go with him to swim. But, Ion wasn’t at home, he was away with his father to do some work in the village and to buy some clothes for home too.

Showing his disappointment without a sincere conviction, Nica said goodbye to his aunt Marioara, kissed her hand and suddenly climbed up a the cherry tree to steal some sweet cherries.

Meanwhile, his aunt Marioara opened the window and saw Nica  up in the tree ,very busy trying to steal as many cherries as hi could carry in his hat! The aunt took then a rod and started waiting for the boy at the bottom of the sweet cherry tree. The boy,knowing his aunt's intentions,refused to get down from the tree saying that he was afraid of the rod the woman had in her hand and what she would do with it! The woman then started throwingmud balls at the boy and even tried to climb herself up the tree! .At this moment the boy jumped down  the tree on the other side and run across  the field as fast as he could .

Being a very good runner, but also scared to death, Nica reached his house and went to his room where he stayed very quiet, without saying anything to anybody.

In the evening, Vasile, his uncle and Marioara, his aunt, went and asked to see Nica’s father to inform him about the damages that the boy did in the field asking for some money as a compensation. Being very angry and upset, Nica’s father decided to punish him and gave the boy a serious physical correction. Nica begged for mercy and understanding and said that he deeply regretted the bad things he did. He felt really ashamed thinking at the moment he would met his uncle ,aunt and cousins.
