Hercule Poirot versus CSI
The greatest fictional detectives of the 20th century relied just on their personal skills to catch criminals. Take for instance Hercule Poirot, the eccentric Belgian detective and “his little grey cells” or Miss Marple, the gentle old spinster with her sharp observation of human nature who managed to solve the most puzzling crimes. Intuition, observation, and method had to do the trick as forensic science provided very little help at the time. Nowadays, however the most popular fictional detectives are forensic investigators.
